From start to finish, how Iron Empire came to be, and whats happening today.

From The Beginning

Our company started back in early 2020, when we wanted to replace the front door on our home. At the time we thought that it would be no big deal as doors have been around for ages so surely there would be tons of options to choose from. Little did we know, there really was not. We wanted to switch out the tired looking square wood doors to a more elegant arched design. We contacted over a dozen companies and all of them had the same things to say. Wood was certainly an option, however due to the doors facing east; they would deteriorate quickly and would have to be refinished every three years. We already had wood doors on, and knew exactly how that looks. It’s not too pretty. We also didn’t like the fact that all the wood doors only came with a one year warranty. So we continued searching. Companies with fibreglass as on option came by and were very happy to quote us. They said it wouldn’t be a problem to make a door with an arch and would go back to their offices and talk with the engineers only to find that it because of the unusual arch design of our entry, the doors would certainly warp and were not an option. So feeling let down, we honestly thought that our only option was a wood door.

An Unexpected Sight

However during this time of looking we had come across a home that had a very unusual door design which we had not seen before. As we were driving by the one day, the gate to this property was open. We went up to the home and introduced ourselves to the owners and explained that we couldn’t help but notice their front door was so intriguing. They graciously showed the door to us and explained that it was an iron door. Iron door? We didn’t even know iron doors were a thing, either than what you see on crazy palaces overseas. From this quick visit we soon found that an iron door had to certainly be the way we would go as their door was over 10 years old and still looked amazing. As we arrived home, we started our journey into the world of iron doors, making multiple designs and seeing which one everyone liked the most before we landed on our final decision.

All Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

Unfortunately when we shipped our doors, shipping costs were at their all-time highs as the world was getting over covid, and shipping couldn’t keep up. After a bit of back and forth we finally had our doors shipped. So at this point it was just a waiting game. Finally, the day came when a semi-truck drove up our driveway and dropped off the crates. We tore them down to see what our doors looked like and were amazed. Only problem was it was November and winter was starting to creep in, as such we didn’t want to tear the front entry of our house off when temperatures were like they were. Come spring time, the weather had warmed up substantially so we found an installer that wanted to take on the challenge of installing iron doors since most people shy away from how heavy they are. Out with the old and in with the new, and we couldn’t believe the difference. Everyone said they couldn’t have been a better fit and the quality was impressive. From this we knew that we had to offer this product to the Canadian market. Iron Empire started and we have been installing iron doors on Canadian homes since.
