Find out what puts Iron doors ahead of wood, fibreglass and steel.

Why Should You Consider an Iron Door?

If you read our first blog, you know that when searching for an arched door, the options were limited because fibreglass can warp and wood weathers easily. After months of searching for the right door, we discovered iron doors. This blog will go over why we decided iron doors were the proper solution for our home and should be a part of every home's front entrance.

First and foremost, the design opportunities are limitless. You can have multiple curves in your doors, Certain parts of the door can be made concave and convex. You can make it as minimalistic as you want or as elegant and Edwardian as you desire. Not to mention the featured ironwork can be made to suit any design wants and needs.

Second, the glass on the door can be optioned to open independently. One of the downsides of traditional doors is that you always have to keep them shut to keep bugs out. If you want a breeze in your home, you typically just open some windows. However, with our doors, the glass can open separately allowing you to keep the door closed while enjoying a cross breeze in your home. To ensure the bugs stay out, magnetic metal bug screens can be inserted to keep it insect-free inside.

Thirdly, the capability of them. Everything about these doors is extreme - the weight, the size, secureness and design. The 12 gauge steel stands out when opening the doors. You feel the utter girth and weight of them, but it is so well balanced by the giant ball-bearing hinges, that make the operation simple and smooth. It doesn't require much more effort than a traditional wood or fibreglass door to open. The maintenance is unmatched, as these hinges boast grease zerks, where you can periodically maintain the doors and prevent squeaking.

From what we have talked about, iron doors truly are unique and exhibit features not found in wood or fibreglass doors. While being so extraordinary they are still practical. So when you are shopping for your next door, give us a call and find out why hundreds of other Canadians have made the change.
